Food Recovery
Nearly 4 million pounds of food distributed to date!
The A Call 2Peace Foundation through our Food Recovery Program has distributed close to 4 million pounds of food since the early stages of the COVID-19 pandemic up to present days, to women and children shelters, Ukrainian refugees, entire school communities on the Los Angeles westside, single parents and their children, people hurting from the aftermaths of the pandemic, the elderly, the sick, homeless individuals and families, armed forces veterans, students and a vast artist community.
Our operation includes a group of volunteer organizers and drivers who collect food donated by markets, catering services, private individuals and organizations and bring them to a distribution hub network around town, where people can get the food they need free of charge.
Healthy Food
Martina Gallagher, FoodCycleLA’s Outreach and Westside Operations Manager, runs the distributions in partnership with the non-profit A Call 2Peace Foundation. AC2P spoke with her to learn more about how she came to join the FoodCycle team. Martina is a health coach and has two young sons, and when she noticed that her sons were consistently bringing back unhealthy foods from school, she decided something needed to change.
